Facelift Q & A
What Type of Facelift is Best?
Dr. Guida recommends a "deep plane" 2-layered face/neck lift combination. This procedure focuses on the deeper muscle layers in the face and neck, and it allows for a long lasting result that looks very natural and youthful. The surgery can be customized based on the patient's goals. Dr. Guida performs digital computer imaging that will allow the patient to see how they will appear after healing. Some of the best results are often combination procedures. For example, a face and neck lift may be accompanied by a laser skin resurfacing procedure.
Who is a Good Candidate For Facelift?
People with submental fat (double chin,) loose skin around the jaw, sagging skin in the cheek and mid-face areas, deep facial folds, or loose skin in the neck may all be good candidates for a facelift and/or a necklift.
What is Facial Reconstruction?
Facial reconstruction is a complex surgery that can repair a face damaged by an accident, trauma, or other means. This surgery can give patients their face back again, even after serious damage.
What is Facial Liposuction?
Facial liposuction is the targeted removal of fat from the face. Patients who have excess fat deposits in their cheeks, jowls, or other areas of the face may need liposuction during a facelift.
What Are Facial Implants?
Facial implants are biocompatible materials that can help redesign facial structures. Implants can create a stronger chin, higher cheekbones, improve the jawline, and more.
What is the Recovery Process for Facelift?
Patients should follow all of Dr. Guida's guidelines closely to get the very best results. This includes taking the correct vitamins and nutritional supplements and getting plenty of rest. Patients can use ice compresses to alleviate discomfort and swelling after the surgery. Dr. Guida will prescribe medications that will help. Patients should plan to take around 10 to 14 days off for a face-neck lift combination procedure. Bruising will generally be gone by then, although some swelling may remain. Patients can resume light exercise after 3 or 4 weeks.
